On Sunday, June.14th, I had my first ever "Free The Children" fundraiser. It was so amazing to see so many new and familiar faces in the crowd. It was held at a local performing stage in Prince George called "Art Space". My singing teacher, Dawn Boudreau, helped me organize the event. Local singers and musicians performed for the very generous crowd and we managed to raise $900.00 all by donation! I was so impressed.
It was so amazing to see such a great turn out for such a great cause. The venue was stifling hot and almost unbearable to stand, but we all managed to put on a show like we always do! It was an interesting night, because not only was I singing, I was also introducing each performer and speaking about the charity as well as my singing group. I am so blessed and thankful for all of the supportive people in my life. Without each and every one of them, this experience would become very difficult. I am so blessed and great-ful. I can't wait to raise more and more money for the charity.
Just think, if all of the fifty girls in the pageant raised $400.00 each, we would have $20,000.00! We are making it possible for "Free The Children" to achieve their goals in freeing children from poverty and exploitation and to free young people from the notion that they are powerless to affect positive change in the world. Thank you all once again for being a part of the fundraiser on Sunday, It was truely an unforgettable evening.
