Oh, Canada :) Public appearance

July 09, 2009

I'm a tad bit late to wish Canada "Happy Birthday", but a little late is never too late.  Canada may be showing some wear and tear here and there, but for 142 years old, I'd say our big country is looking pretty good.  Every year, in my little town of Prince George, we have a patriotic celebration of Canada's birthday at Fort George Park.

At this event, family and friends unite in celebrating our country.  There is fun activities for the kids, and people of all ages.  There is face painting, water fights at our small water park, lots of different types of foods and the best of all, the great cultural performances.

I was lucky enough to take part in one of them.  Once again, I joined the Bhangra dance club of Prince George and performed a song called "Gori".  (Which means "white girl" in Punjabi).  This is led by my fantastic instructor Harman.  I hope to be as good as these dancers some day, they are absolutely phenomenal.  I loved my pink traditional east Indian Suit I got to wear, it was beautiful, although it was a very hot day outside and I was a tad uncomfortable ha ha.  Over all it was a beautiful, patriotic day, and all I have to say is I am so happy and blessed to be Canadian!
