HI there! This is Miss Teen Central Saskatchewan once again, bringing you the best of Saskatoon, my home town, or I should say City! You can visit my blog at the link right above where you will find Genevieve tucker posting blogs about her home town in BC! My name is also Genevieve, Genevieve jones and I would like to take you on a tour of Saskatoon the city that shines brightly in the world and i my heart.

I personally reside from Saskatoon. Saskatoon is the largest city in Saskatchewan, and one of the most cultured and fast growing too. We have a population of 209,400 and it is always growing, especially over the more recent years. There is so much to take in and experience in my city all year round. It is so hard to direct people in one general direction when it comes to specific events and tourist attractions. Currently taking place in downtown Saskatoon is the delicious event, Taste of Saskatchewan, which features over 30 of Saskatoon’s most prestigious restaurants and amazing performance from the city’s own bands and musical acts. The event is located right next door to the delta Bessborough and the Sheraton Cavalier two of the best hotels along the river front.

Another amazing experience on the river is the Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan. This event showcases performers acting out two of Shakespeare’s plays, this year being, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Antony and Cleopatra. Other attractions include feasts just like in the medieval times, and DanceEgypt preforming Dances of the Nile. The whole event raises money for various charities, while taking in no profit for itself. This year it is also the 25th anniversary of Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan! I personally have gone to this event and I can say that it is simply amazing, the actors are incredible and it is so easy to relax while you listen to them speaking with the quiet sounds of the Saskatchewan river playing in the background.

Saskatoon will soon attract even more tourists with its River Landing project.

My city is a place where everyone can find their own niche. We have many theaters that feature regular block buster movies, unique plays and top musical acts..the next being the Blink 182 concert, with opening bands like Fall Out Boy and The All American Rejects!! At the Persephone Theater they are always trying something new, I recently attended a play that took the audience through the city to a secret location where the play was performed. It was so different and very exciting, the play was very dark and grown up but it was easy to enjoy it. If your not into plays then there is a great club scene as well in Saskatoon. For the last 6 months or so I have attended some of the Good Life productions at the Odeon in Saskatoon. These ‘raves’ are far from the normal stereotype of raves. Although there is always something minor that does go wrong, the raves however are a place that people who don’t normally fit in can fit in. They are a blast and even though my friends and I do typically fit in with the norms of society we love to go out dancing and hit the techno scene featured at the Odeon raves.

We also have one of the largest museums in the province with the best of the past. The Western Development Museum has been a favorite of tourist and Saskatoon residence for 60 years!! And now there is a new wing open to the public called "The Saskatchewan Story" this new section focuses on the human side of the Boom Town story, what it was like to be a farmer or a foreigner coming to the city and starting a new life. "Boom Town" as it is called is full of old time shops and cars with great stories, it is a fun place to explore!

Saskatoon is full of very patriotic fans, devoted to their home football teams like the Saskatchewan Roughriders

And Saskatoon's own team the HillTops!

Saskatoon truly shines!!
